Coursework - Narritive theory based on Todorov's theory

Genre of Film:- RomCom/Chickflick
Narrative:-
Equalibrium - An average teenage girls life who leads a normal life and goes to school and lots of friends and is quite popular

Disturbance:- The girl is in love with a good looking boy who already has a girlfriend who she doesnt get along with and has the occacional argument with. This then leads to the girl being really unhappy and upset and has been told shes not allowed to speak to the boy she loves anymore.

New Equalibrium:- The boy ends up breaking-up with his girlfriend as he has realised that he is madly in love with the girl and ask her to be his girlfriend and they have a happy ending and live their life together.

Art Of The Title - Casino Royale

The title sequence of Casino Royale is in cartoon/animation showing what 'James Bond' does and is. They have the titles fading in and out of the screen in a informal font. It first shows the producer and then the main actor following by who he plays then has the other semi main actors/characters. It then follows on to have the rest of the crew who helped make the film i.e assistant producer and camera men, music etc. The action that is going on in the background is all to do with a casino such as 
-cards with the four suit pictures floating around and being used as objects 
-blackjack tables 
- money also floating around at the end.
This type of titles wont work for our Romcom as it is to high tech for what we want and its to experienced for us. Also we dont want that many credits at the beginning and it is too long for a title sequence

Research of Genres for our film

The genre we are doing is a Romcom. A Romcom is a film which is light hearted, with scenes of comic politeness that are centered around romance. 


We did think about having our film as a chick flick or a horror movie. We didn't do these as horror movies and chick flick are quite common and have been done a lot. A Romcom has also been done a lot but we wanted to do one because it can be a family genre and and people are more likely to watch it.

A Genre is a type of category where a film it put into.A genre is a formed convention and new genres are forever being added.

Storyboard of Shots

Location shot research

For our film we are going to shoot it in our Old Town in Hastings and also our Town Center. We want to film it here as it shows the a busy feel to the film and we also wanted to film it in the open with natural lighting and features. 


A couple of problems we thought of by filming outside was: 
- we cant rely on the weather, so we would have to choose our filming days when the weather is nice
- there might be too many people in the shots which might inter fear with the continuity, so we will have to make sure we film when it is quite.
