Submarine is a British Film and was set in the 70's. Screenplay and directed by Richard Ayoade. Submarine is about a 15 year old boy called Oliver Tate, who has two objestives; one is to loose his virginity before his next birthday and the second one is to extinguish the flame between his mother and her ex lover who has come back into her life.
It was produced by Film 4, and was funded by The National Lotterly. It was released on 18th March 2011.
It is a comedy drama focused at teenagers and young adults. It has a tense mood and atmosphere which is created by camera shots and music. The mood and atmosphere are created by camera shots, as they have a lot of hand held shots to make it seem more realistic. It has some creepy and scary music in some parts and also has a voice over by the main character narrating on his life which also creates mood.
The main character Oliver - is he Sterotypical? Yes and No. Yes he is sterotypical because he wants a girlfriend just like any boy would and No he isnt because he is odd and different to other people and people might find him weird. This is created by the way he behaves around girls and his family. Alos because it is set in a very small town in wales his behaviour may be different.
In the film there is alot of red shown, which can suggest danger and also sex. We see red with Jordana duffle coat, this might suggest she is little red riding hood and she could be in danger. A duffle coat are also a bit child like so might also resemble that she has innocence.
