The first person we see is a woman called Bridget Jones who is played by
Renée Zellweger going to her mothers Christmas party. During this we hear her voice over of what she is thinking.
The opening of this film is similar to what we want as we get to see the main character first and the setting which you get in most Romcoms and other films.
They use a various effects in the opening two minutes.Such as a slow motion shot when Mark turns round to look at Bridget. However this is done in a mickey take way of a conventional romance which we have become know of having the perfect person seen in slow motion through the eyes of the antagonist of the film.They have also used other shots such as having the camera at a angle when Bridget walks into her mothers house, this is to imply that her mother is quirky and not from this planet.
